Beatrice Joanne (Swaney) Hizer

Beatrice Joanne Hizer, 86, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Saturday August 5, 2023 in the Adena Regional Medical Center.  She was born on September 14, 1936 in Dayton, OH to the late Earl Nathaniel and Margaret (Knisley) Swaney.

Surviving is her daughter Kathryn L. Newman, Chillicothe, her son, Kenneth Newman, Edinburgh, Scotland, her grandchildren, Joanne Marie Newman Jones, Zachary Torres Newman, and Meghan Newman, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Warnock, and her brother, Charles Swaney.

Joanne had worked as a secretary for Peterson & Peterson LLC in Xenia, OH, and had been a member of the Pleasantview Church of Christ in Pleasantview, OH.  She enjoyed bowling and cooking, and was a skilled seamstress.

Private services will be held at the discretion of the family.  Calling hours will not be observed.
