Anna L. Mcwhorter

Anna L. McWhorter, 79, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday morning, Jan. 24, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1930 in Ross County, the daughter of John and Eunice (McElwee) Ertel. On July 8, 1955 she married Robert Wayne McWhorter who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2009. She is survived by daughters, Judy McWhorter and Mary Ann McWhorter, both of Chillicothe, sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Monica McWhorter, Leawood, KS, John and Linda McWhorter, Tucson, AZ and David and Jamie McWhorter, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Daniel and Benjamin McWhorter, John "J.B." McWhorter, Chelsea McWhorter, Seth and Kayla Knisley and also recognized as grandchildren are Jenny and Nick Burkholder, and dear friends, Mary Ann Dixon and Vivian Burgess, both of Chillicothe. Her parents, 5 brothers and 7 sisters preceded her in death. She was the last surviving child of the 13 children born to her family. Mrs. McWhorter was a former employee of the Kresge Company. She was a USAF veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. As an avid quilter, she produced many beautiful quilts over the years. She enjoyed picking berries and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, Jan 28, 2010 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Adena Health System.
