Ammy Bennett, Jr., 78, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday evening, June 17, 2007 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Ross County, the son of Ammy and Ida Belle (Haynes) Bennett, Sr. On Sept. 18, 1954 he married Rose Mary McGuire who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Tina L.and husband, Donald Barr and Lori J. Bennett and companion, Jeff Stafford and sons Daniel and David, all of Chillicothe, grandchildren, John (Ginger) and Jason Free, Logan (Molly Wayland) and Maleah Calhoun, great grandchildren, Gavin, Kara Shea and John Robert Free, a step great grandchild, Hayley Cooper, a sister, Virgie L. Kidney, Battle Creek, MI and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents, 4 sisters and 5 brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Bennett was a retired employee of Ross-Co Redi-Mix, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Brookside Church of Christ in Christian Union and had served in the US Navy during WWII. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Revs. Jack Norman and Randy Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
