Aleta R. (Cuckler) Howard, 94, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Monday January 8, 2024 in the Vineyards at Concord in Frankfort. She was born on April 12, 1929 in Chillicothe to the late Charles M. and Genevieve (Streitenberger) Cuckler. On January 29, 1946 she married Virgil Howard who preceded her in death on February 2, 2016.
Surviving are daughters, Sondra Alexander, Deborah (Ralph) Sparks Letsche, and Vickie (Timothy) Conley, all of Chillicothe, Sherry (Robert) Tackett, and Peggy (Earl) Tackett, both of Waverly; sons, Gary (Jane) Howard, David W. Howard, Ronald (Patty) Howard, Michael (Brenda) Howard, Mark Howard, and Rodney (Wendy) Howard, all of Chillicothe, 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and a brother Ronald (Joyce) Cuckler, Waverly. She was preceded in death by her son, Virgil D. Howard, 3 sisters, Hazel Lump, Gladys Curtis, and Wanda Cuckler, and 2 brothers, Robert and Lloyd Cuckler.
Aleta had worked at Hills Department Store and was a member of Sandy Chapel Church and Straight Creek Church. Virgil and Aleta raised 12 children, and she was known as grandma to many. She loved to bake for her family and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 17, 2024 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Mack Walk, officiating. Burial will follow in Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
