Norma Jo Burchett Obituary

Norma Josephine “Jo” (Purpero) Burchett, 78 of Chillicothe passed from this life on Friday, November 2, 2018 in Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness.  She was born April 19, 1940 in Chillicothe, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Tomlinson) Purpero.  Her husbands, Robert Finley and Paul Burchett preceded her in death.

Surviving are her son, Jay Finley, Chillicothe; step-daughter, Sherry (Rev. Larry) Burns, Washington CH; step-son, David (Joni) Burchett, Garland, TX; grandchildren, Shannon (Wayne) Henderson, Chris (Joann) Finley and Corbin Finley; great-grandchildren, Kamrin Henderson and Colton Finley; 6 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Susie (George) Woods, Hallsville and Vickie (Charlie) McDonald, Chillicothe; sister-in-law, Donna Purpero, Canton; brother, Bill (Becky) Purpero, Piketon; special cousin, Rosie Trainer, Chillicothe and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Finley, sisters, Jane Breth and Jackie Ward and a brother, Teddy Purpero.

Mrs. Burchett was a retired employee of Mead Paper with 35 years of service.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

The family wishes to thank Traditions of Chillicothe, National Church Residences Hospice and her special nurse, Ruth for their kindness and compassion during Norma Jo’s illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the discretion of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 (alzfdn.org).
