Norma Vernice (Carver) Penisten, 87 of Chillicothe went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning, Oct. 16, 2018 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born Apr. 2, 1931 in Ross County, the daughter of Lewis and Minnie May (England) Minney. She married Harold D. Carver in 1952, who preceded her in death on 1992. She later married Ralph E. Penisten who preceded her in death in 2015.
Surviving are her daughters, Robin (Barry) Haubeil, Chillicothe, Pam (Bruce) Ballard, Albany, Teresa Sayers, Chillicothe and Clara Bennett, Chillicothe; a son, Jerry (Cindy) Carver, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Laurel Lenox, Josh Carver, Misty McGarvey, Barry Haubeil, Jr., Carmen Graley, Anthony Sayers, Brandy Estep, Ashton Carver and Dylan Carver and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her son, Harold “Dennie” Carver, Jr., 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
Norma was an employee of the Chillicothe City Schools, retiring in 1992. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a long time Sunday School teacher, a member of the Berean Sunday School class and was active in the Senior Saints.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Dennis Garman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
