Lavonne J. (Settles) Mautz

Lavonne J. Mautz, 91 of Newark, formerly of Chillicothe passed from this life on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Altercare of Newark.  She was born April 10, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Paul G. and Mary E. (Wright) Settles.  On June 24, 1946 she married Gene C. Mautz who preceded her in death January 9, 1989.

Surviving is her daughter, Carol (Bernie) Stuck, Newark, a daughter-in-law, Ann Mautz, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Robert Patrick (Lori) Stuck, Melissa (Chris) Odon and Thomas (Jessie) Mautz; great-grandchildren, Maisie (Jesse) Holmes, Maddie Stuck, Addie Odon, Cole Odon, Emily Odon, Landon Mautz and Luke Mautz; a sister, Joann Needs, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Larry Mautz and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Mrs. Mautz was an employee of Big Bear Supermarkets, retiring in 1988.  She had been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The Red Hat Society and had served as a volunteer at Adena Regional Medical Center.  She was also the Past President of the Widow’s Support Group at Trinity UM Church and had served as Secretary of the Widow’s Support Group at Walnut Street UM Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Chaplin Mark Pierce officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret’s Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Ohio (hospiceofcentralohio.com)
