Larry E. Chaffin, Sr., 76 of Chillicothe passed from this life on Wednesday morning, December 27, 2017 in Grant Medical Center, Columbus following an extended illness.  He was born May 5, 1941 in Ross County, the son of Clyde and Hazel (Caldwell) Chaffin.  On May 27, 1960 he married Nancy L. Masters who survives.

Also surviving are his sons, Larry E. Chaffin, Jr., Chillicothe, Douglas A. (Carol) Chaffin, Kingston, Tracy Allen (Amy) Chaffin, Kitts Hill, OH, David Lee (Beth) Chaffin, Gary J. (Amy) Chaffin and Jerry L. (Jennifer) Chaffin, all of Chillicothe; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Gaus, Galloway, OH; a brother, Gary Chaffin, Bakersfield, CA; aunts, Rosemary Chaffin and Donna Magill and an uncle, Walter Chaffin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, 2 sisters and a brother.

Mr. Chaffin was an employee of Chilpaco, retiring in 2003.  He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and as the “Chief” of the Chaffin Nation.

He was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union where funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev.
