Geneva A. McGarvey, 89, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Sunday, Apr. 16, 2017 in Westmoreland Place.  She was born May 18, 1927 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Raymond and Amie (Dyer) Copenhaver.  On Dec. 17, 1943 she married Charles D. McGarvey who preceded her in death Apr. 30, 2010.

Surviving is her daughter, Sharon (Gerald) Brown, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Bryan (Todd Sapp) Brown, Kim (Bill) Hart, and Tanya (Jim) Moore; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Courtney (Bryan), Philip, Katie (Tyler) and Billy; great-great-grandchildren, Gabe, Elijah, Selah and Abby; sisters, Elaine (Carol) Hutchison and Judy Copenhaver, all of Chillicothe;  sister-in-law, Karen Copenhaver, Kingston;  a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Dominique and her dog, Biscuit, Ronnie Cottrill and Larry Henkle.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerry, sisters, Kay, Carol and Barbara and brothers, Russell, Marvin and Everett.

Mrs. McGarvey attended Brookside Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed crocheting, flowers and was an avid dog lover.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Westmoreland Place and the National Church Residence Hospice for their kindness and care during Geneva’s illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, Apr. 20, 2017 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jack Norman officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until the hour of service on Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Church Senior Center, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
