Bernard Eugene Knapp, 93 of Chillicothe passed from this life on Tuesday morning, January 16, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born August 27, 1925 in Chillicothe, the son of Bernard Earl Knapp and Bessie (Woodbridge) Knapp. On February 5, 1950 he married Ruth Eileen Terflinger who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Janis (Michael) Schreiter, Elgin, IL, Emily (Scott) Grigsby, Murfreesboro, TN and Barbara (Bill) Forthofer, Huron, OH; sons, Bernard A. (Joyce) Knapp, Chillicothe and Charles (Gwen) Knapp, South Point, OH; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Dowler, Upper Arlington, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters.
Mr. Knapp was an employee of Mead Paper with 47 years of service, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Mead Retirees Club, a former member of the Mead Athletic Association and was a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Dan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 400, Lucasville, OH 45648 or to a charity of choice.
