Wilma J. Johnson (Auntie Wilma) passed away peacefully June 5, 2016  in her niece’s home in Dunedin, Florida.  She was 86, born on October 18, 1929, in Chillicothe Ohio, to the late Edgar H. and Iona (Hupp) Stauffer.  She lived most of her life in Chillicothe where she greeted those she loved with a big smile, a twinkle in her eye, and the most generous heart.

Mrs. Johnson married the late William R. Johnson Jr. on October 25, 1963, and they spent 36 years sharing a love of good friends, good fishing, and good fish fries.

She is survived by her sister, Hilda Mae Debord, sisters in law: Tipp Stauffer, Billie Stauffer and Shirley Johnson Doctor, her niece Cheryl Stauffer Jenks, whom she loved like a daughter, and many other special nieces, nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.   Besides her parents and late husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar (Jr.), George, Ronald and Roger Stauffer and niece Nita Kay Stauffer Jones.

She graduated from Centralia High School and became an honorary member of the Chillicothe High School Class of 1950 after marrying her “Bill.”

Wilma worked in administration for the Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company for over forty years. She was a long time member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church.

Wilma taught us to appreciate Ohio State University Football, tasty food, a gracious home that celebrates holidays with a magical zeal, fine martinis, toe-tapping-music and most importantly to love our people well.  She will be missed dearly and will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all of us who knew and loved her.

Wilma will be buried with Bill in Springbank Cemetery.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date this summer.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is honored to serve the family.  Memorial contributions can be made to Rare, a non-profit environmental organization that represents Wilma’s love of nature:  Rare, 1310 North Courthouse Rd., Arlington, VA 22201 in memory of Wilma Johnson.
