Paul E. Smith, 78, of Columbus, formerly of Chillicothe passed from this life on Monday, Mar. 6, 2017 at Astoria Place of Columbus following an extended illness.  He was born June 22, 1938 in Charleston, WV, the son of Arthur D. and Alma May (Osborne) Smith.

Surviving is his brother, Carl R. Smith, Racine, WV and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth A. Fetherolf.

Mr. Smith had attended Unioto Schools and was a spelling bee champion in Dunbar, WV prior to moving to Chillicothe.  He was a charter member of the Westside Nazarene Church.  He enjoyed reading and trains and never knew a stranger.

Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jason Everidge officiating.  Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, Fayette County, OH.
