Omar Andrew Jones was born in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Rev. C. A. Jones and Rose Ann (Raney) Jones on August 7, 1929.  He was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd, Wallace, Atlas and Charles Roy and sisters Talitha and Marcena Wingo.  A brother, James M. Jones of Chillicothe survives.  He leaves a host of relatives and friends including a special nephew, Victor Jones and a niece, Retha Jones.

Omar was baptized at an early age by his father, Rev. C.A. Jones and he became a member of Zion Baptist Church. A 1948 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Omar served in the U.S. Army and was a resident of Los Angeles, California for several years, hoping to become an actor.  He was employed by Presto Parts and the garment industry.

He left Los Angeles and moved to St. Louis, Missouri with his brother, Wallace until they returned to Chillicothe in 1994.

Omar went home peacefully at 5:26 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. J. Troy Gray officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the hour of service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wallace L. Jones Fellowship Fund, 5585 Pershing Ave., Suite 240, St. Louis, MO 63211
