Mary Elizabeth Edwards, 91, of Waverly passed from this life on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017 at her residence following a yearlong battle with cancer.  She was born January 13, 1926 in Cawood, KY, the daughter of Olin and Gladys (Robinson) Smith.  In 1942 she married Harold L. Edwards who preceded her in death June 5, 1996.

Surviving are her daughters, Eddie (Walter) McGonigle, Waverly and Connie Waters, Chillicothe; her son, Francis W. Edwards, Ormond Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Steven, Donna, Chris, Scott, Bryan, Mark, David and Paul; her 4 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Pickard, Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Mrs. Edwards was a retired employee of General Electric in Circleville.  As an active member of the First Baptist Church in Waverly, she supported the church missions and had made several mission trips.  Mary was an accomplished artist and an avid gardener.  She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Revs. Val Francis and Josh Remy officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to a charity of choice.
