Joann Self, 87, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Monday morning, April 18, 2016 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.  She was born March 7, 1929 in Hocking County, the daughter of Blaine and Kate (Tisdale) Reed.  On December 24, 1947 she married Dean Self who preceded her in death on September 5, 1996.

Surviving are her daughters, Pamela (Dave) Woods, Chillicothe and Jody (John) Durnbaugh, Centerville, OH; a son, Randall Self, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Carrie (Joel) Kunkle, Shayne Self and Jason Woods and a host of family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mrs. Self was an employee of the Chillicothe City Schools, retiring in 1991.  She had attended Tyler United Methodist Church.  A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed gardening and her home and was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and OSU Buckeyes fan.

The family wishes to thank Adena Health System and Signature Health Care of Chillicothe for their care and concern for Joann.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Chaplain Harry Mullins officiating.  The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
