Betty Lou Barnhart, 86, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 2016 in Adena Regional Medical Center.  She was born November 15, 1929 in Ross County, the daughter of William and Bertha (Brewer) Wright.  On October 4, 1947 she married Howard E. Barnhart, Jr. who preceded her in death November 20, 1986.

Surviving are daughters, Linda (Brian) Moore and Chris Anderson, all of Chillicothe, Marsha (Nathan) Clayton, Huntington Beach, CA and Brenda (Phil) Starr, Groveport, OH; grandchildren, Jonathan and Christopher Moore, Kevin and Amy Anderson, Amber Anderson Stewart, and Howard and Kaveri Clayton;  4 great-grandchildren;  a sister, Joann Mineer, Circleville and a sister-in-law, Mabel Ann Barnhart, Chillicothe.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Terry Edward Barnhart, a son-in-law, Darrell “Butch” Anderson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mrs. Barnhart was an employee of J.C. Penney, retiring in 1991.  She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of Elmdale Grange for many years.  An active volunteer, she served the American Cancer Society and Adena Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Kurt King officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Springfield Volunteer Fire Department

The family wishes to thank the Adena Cancer Center and Dr. Zion Oshlkanlu for their care during Betty's illness..
